There are tons of farmhouse coffee table plans out there but I am so excited about presenting todays table! I have partnered with Kyle and Audrey over at "Hillbuildit Creations" to present the 3D plans to one of their original builds; "The awesome DIY Coffee Table"
 
This DIY coffee table is one of many of their awesome builds! Click Here to check out more of their awesome work!! Now lets take a look at their Coffee Table. Isn't she a beauty!! Well thanks to Kyle and Audrey, and my 3D plan magic, now you can build it too with these awesome DIY farmhouse coffee table plans!!

  • 2 - 4x4s @ 8ft
  • 2 - 2x4 @ 8ft
  • 1 - 2x8 @ 10ft
  • 1- 2x10 @ 10ft
  • 1- 2x10 @ 8ft

Step 1:

Attach the 2x4 brace (19.5") to the 4x4s (16.5") using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws to attach along with Wood Glue. There should be a 2" spacing from the 2x4 brace and the floor. Repeat step for the other side of the DIY coffee table base.

Attach the top 2x4 brace (19.5") to the 4x4s using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2" setting, with 2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws to attach along with Wood Glue. The top 2x4 should be flush with the 4x4s. Repeat step for the other side of the DIY coffee table base.

Step 2:

Attach the angles 4x4 brace to the assembled coffee table using pilot holes and wood screws.  Repeat step for the other side of the coffee table base.

Before cutting Xs, measure against your assembled side and mark for best fit/cut. (4x4s braces in place of 2x4s shown in picture)

These Xs really make these DIY coffee table legs to die for!

Complete the X brace by attaching the 2 additional 4x4 braces (8") to the 4x4s using wood screws along with wood glue.  Repeat step for the other side of the DIY coffee table base.

Before cutting Xs, measure against your assembled side and mark for best fit/cut. (Note: Pictures shows table using all 4x4s)

You should now have two finished base sides.

Step 3:

Assemble the bottom shelf by attaching the three (33") 2x8s together using biscuits along with wood glue.

Bottom shelf should be ripped to match the length of the (19.5”) 2x4. Attach the bottom shelf to the bottom 2x4 braces on the two base sides using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2" setting, with  2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws to attach along with wood glue.

Step 4: Attach the top (33") 2x4 brace to the top of the assembled coffee table base using a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2" setting, with  2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws to attach along with wood glue.

Step 5:

Assemble the coffee table top by attaching the 2x10s (36") using a biscuit joiner and biscuits to glue up the table top. You may also use a Kreg Jig K4 Pocket Hole System on a 1 1/2" setting, with  2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws to attach along with wood glue for extra support.

Step 6:

Attach the 2x10 bread boards to the assembled 2x10s using wooden dowels to attach along with wood glue.

Step 7:

Attach the tabletop to the assembled base using 2" wood screws to attach the tabletop to the 2x4 stretcher and Tabletop Z clips fasteners to attach the tabletop to the base.

 Lets have a good look at "Hillbuiltit Creations" build again!
For the finish, Kyle and Audrey used Minwax Early American for the table top with Semigloss polyurethane, and Cotton Blossom by Behr (with a base grey paint) for the bottom. (220-grit sand paper for distressing). They also added in those beautiful baskets like these. Now its time for you to take a go and make your own DIY coffee table.
