Ryobi Palm Router Tool Review
The Ryobi Cordless Router has arrived and it's living up to the hype.
This Ryobi Palm router definitely has room in my shop and this Ryobi router review will tell you why!
This review is sponsored by the Home Depot as a part of The Home Depot's Pro-Spective Campaign.
I was chosen along with several other bloggers to be apart of Home Depots Pro-Spective Campaign for the upcoming year and I am excited to be sharing my first review for the Ryobi Cordless 18V ONE+ Palm Router. In my experience, routers have always been powerful tools, so I was definitely excited to get my hands on this bad boy to see what it could do, and to no surprise this little thing has definitely got some power behind her.
WHATS INCLUDED
The box comes packed with two items. The Ryobi 18V ONE+ Palm Router (Bare Tool) and a collet wrench. So YES, you do have to purchase a battery separately to operate this tool, unless you're a Ryobi user (like me) and have plenty lying around.

TESTING THE ROUTER
SWITCHING OUT BITS
Switching out the bits was a fairly easy process. Check out this short video on how to install/remove a bit.
FAVORITE FEATURES
DEPTH ADJUSTMENT
The Ryobi Palm Router is equipped with a quick release lever for easy depth adjustment. In my experience this feature makes depth adjustment much easier compared to other tools I have used. It also has micro-adjustment for precise depth control. This dual adjustment method gives the user an option to either roughly adjust to a depth quickly or adjust accurately with the micro-adjustment.
LED LIGHT
The Ryobi Palm Router comes equipped with an LED light that illuminates your workspace while cutting. It isn't entirely bright but in my experience it does help.
CORDLESS
I think just about everyone loves a cordless tool, but it is one of my main reasons for loving this palm router. Luckily, the bare tool works with all 18V batteries. My recommended battery is the 18V Compact LITHIUM+ Battery because it gives an equal balance of power and weight. Be sure to check out RYOBI Tools for current online specials, they have specials often.
HOW COULD IT BE BETTER?
Variable Speed
If I were using a really wide cutting head, it would be helpful to have variable speeds but being that this trim router isn't necessarily made for using wide cutting heads it makes not having variable speed acceptable, but of course it would be preferred, as I'm sure not having variable speed would pose more of a problem with higher quality wood.
Router Fence
So I saw this on the Ridgid compact router, but Ridgid has a little router fence that's included with their corded compact router that helps guide you when routing. I think that would be a cool thing to incorporate/include with this Ryobi palm router.
The Ryobi Cordless Router retails for $69.00 at the Home Depot.
