Candle Care & Safety
We want you to enjoy your candle safely from the very first burn to the last glow. Please follow these simple guidelines for the best (and safest) experience.
Before You Burn
- Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn to ensure a steady flame and clean burn.
- Place your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface away from anything flammable.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
While Burning
- Never leave a candle unattended or burn while sleeping.
- Burn for no more than 3–4 hours at a time.
- Extinguish if the flame becomes too high or flickers excessively.
- Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains to prevent overheating the vessel.
After Burning
- Extinguish with a snuffer.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before moving or relighting.
- Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

01 What materials do you use in your handmade products?
We use only premium, sustainably sourced materials in all our handmade creations. Each piece is crafted with care using clean fragrance oils from reputable suppliers, selected to meet our quality standards.
02 How long does it take to create a custom order?
Custom orders typically take 3-4 weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the design. We'll provide you with a detailed timeline when you place your order.
03 Do you offer international shipping?
We currently ship within the United States only. International shipping may be available in the future.
04 What is your return and exchange policy?
We take great care in packaging our candles to ensure they arrive safely. Due to the nature of our products, all sales are final.
Refunds & Replacements
Refunds or replacements are only issued if your candle arrives broken or damaged.
We do not offer refunds or exchanges for:
- Buyer’s remorse
- Scent preferences
- Incorrect orders placed by the customer
- Normal variations in handmade products
What To Do If Your Candle Arrives Damaged
If your order arrives damaged, please follow the steps below so we can help you quickly:
Contact us within 48 hours of delivery
- Email us at handmadehavenn@gmail.com with:
- Your order number
- Clear photos of:
- The damaged candle
- The shipping box and packaging
Do not discard the item until your claim has been reviewed
Once approved, we will offer either a replacement or a refund, depending on availability.
Additional Notes
- Requests submitted after 48 hours of delivery may not be eligible
- We are not responsible for damage caused after delivery (including heat exposure or improper handling)
- Shipping fees are non-refundable
Letter from Our Founder
I’ve always been a designer and carpenter at heart, creating with my hands, building from the ground up, and taking on labor-intensive projects that push both creativity and strength. Making things has always been how I express myself.
Living with lupus changed the pace of how I could create. It asked me to slow down in ways I didn’t expect, but instead of seeing that as an ending, I chose to see it as a pivot. Candlemaking became a new way to create with intention. A way to keep building, just differently. Where my body needed rest, my creativity found a new outlet, one that still allowed me to pour care, craftsmanship, and purpose into every piece.
Each candle represents resilience, adaptability, and the beauty of finding light in a new form. These candles are made for moments of rest, reflection, and comfort, reminders that slowing down doesn’t mean stopping, and that creativity can evolve just as we do.
